This December marks the 4oth wedding anniversary of my parents. I wanted to do something special for them this year so I talked to my brothers about it. My parents would not want a large party so we figured we would all go out to dinner at a restaurant. Even keeping it "small" in my family is still about 30 people. After thinking about it more I decided I wanted to do something more than that. They deserve more.
So I started brainstorming and decided I would host a dinner party in my home and have it catered. It's a win/win situation all around. The children will be able to play, the adults will be able to talk and have a drink and just relax. It never fails, when a large party goes to a restaurant for dinner you don't have the chance to talk to everyone and then once dinner is over it feels rushed to leave. I wanted a more relaxed atmosphere than that.
Once my brain started going, there was no stopping it. Since they were married 4 days before Christmas they did have elements of Christmas in their wedding. My mother's bouquet was made of white pointsettias and the bridesmaids' were red so I want to incorporate both color pointsettias into the party. The overall color scheme as of now is red, white/ivory and gold. I know there will be lots of candles as well. I can't wait to pull this together and celebrate their anniversary with them.
