Have you considered hiring a "back-up" photographer for your wedding? By "back-up" I don't mean to replace your photographer if he/she doesn't show, I mean in addition to your primary photographer. You may be wondering why you would even consider such a thing. Well the perk of having a secondary photographer is you have 2 sets of eyes watching over your big day instead of just one, which means those impromptu moments that you miss because you're talking to your guests (or having pictures taken with your family), are still caught by someone for you to enjoy later.
For some perfect examples of this, I urge you to take a look at Regent Hill Designs and see exactly what I'm talking about. The sharp eye behind the camera at Regent Hill happens to be a great friend of mine. She recently decided to pursue her passion for photography and I just love her work. There's just something about it that makes me smile no matter what the subject may be. I blog stalk her often to see what fabulous shots she has captured because the things she shoots are things I could see on a daily basis and think nothing of them, but seeing them through her eyes brings a whole new vision to mine.
You know what's even better? Emily (that's my friend) has an Etsy store where you can purchase some of her prints. She has some amazing shots of various things including the fab shots she took in Paris. I actually need to go scope those out and purchase some for my office. It needs some wall glamour to spruce up the atmosphere in there.
In case you get lost in Emily's pictures and miss any of what she has typed in between (this happens to me, I admit it), here is a direct link to what she prefers to capture, in her own words. I hope you enjoy her keen eye for detail as much as I do.
