First Impressions Around Every Corner

Saturday I coordinated a fabulous wedding! All weddings are wonderful but I say this one is fabulous simply because there were so many unique and memorable touches everywhere you looked. The reception was at the magnificent Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Boston which is a brand new luxury hotel, and luxurious it was. Everything about this wedding was amazing. The bride's unique white and red gown was stunning, the aroma from the food made your mouth water and the flowers were absolutely gorgeous. As a vendor I didn't have the same meal as the guests but my meal was amazing so I can only imagine how wonderful the guests' meals were.

The flowers...oh the flowers...there was a combination of high and low centerpieces. The low centerpieces were a floating candle in a glass hurricane and the hurricane was in the center of a wreath made of roses and crystals. The tall centerpieces were also roses and crystals and they caught your attention immediately as you entered the room. But that's just the reception! The church was also decorated lovely between the fabric draped pews and cascading roses to the glorious arrangements by the altar. And let's not forget the girls' bouquets of roses and stephanotis, Lucille's Floral Design did a phenomenal job on everything!

The couple themselves were such a great couple. As gorgeous as their wedding was they also had fun touches that added a bit of personality to their day. Instead of a traditional guest book they opted for a caricature of them as bride & groom which was then matted for their guests to sign. They also had a candy bar with assorted glass containers, some shaped like margarita or wine glasses, which they filled with their favorite candy. That was a huge hit with their guests. They filled up their adorable little favor jars, that the bride made herself, with whatever candy they chose. Then of course their was the groom's cake, a yellow GMC pickup truck, it was great!

Once the technicalities were over and it was time for people to get their dance on, DJ Greg Fernandes of Siagel Productions made it happen. He was a fabulous MC and he definitely knows how to get a party started. Once guests got on the dance floor, they didn't leave it. Since the bride wanted to do the "Cha Cha Slide" he decided to not only play that for her, but he also went out there and showed the ladies the moves to a new dance, the "Cupid Shuffle". They had a blast.

My favorite part of the reception was the "Wedding at the Wedding", a video created by their Videographer, Hal Slifer, which had them talking about their relationship, excerpts from movies that fit, and pictures of them from childhood, growing up and all the way to the reception itself. It was well done and a huge hit with everyone.

I can't wait to see photos from this wedding as I'm sure they're going to be gorgeous! Theresa Johnson is such a talented photographer I have no doubt she captured some amazing memories.
