Our 5th Annual Bridal Expo - March 6th!

It's that time of year again! Our annual bridal expo is just around the corner with only a month to go! I've got a lot of returning vendors and some great new vendors as well. There will of course be a fashion show presented by Bridals by Rochelle and once again we'll have a dance demonstration, this time from Dance & Beyond. As always there will be gorgeous, mouthwatering cakes from Specialty Wedding Cakes and our caterer's are sure to have some amazing delicacies to sample!

New this year, I have a photo booth vendor which I'm really excited about, Images Event Studios has come on board! Brides will have a chance to try it out, see how much fun it can be to have one at their reception and they'll leave with some free photos. I plan on trying it out as well at the end of the day. By that time I'll be ready to just let go and be silly, we all need that from time to time, I can't wait!

In the past I've done spotlight posts on the participating vendors, this year I'll do it a bit differently. In the next few days I'll do a single post providing links to those past vendor spotlights so you can read about them and visit their websites. In the coming weeks, I'll do a spotlight post featuring the vendors that are new this year with links to their websites as well.

Spotlight on::J & L Catering

During the next week, to give you a little preview of some of the amazing talent we have with us this year, I'll be featuring some of the vendors that will be participating at our upcoming bridal expo. To start things off, this first post is all about J & L Catering.

Chef John Boardman, along with his wife, Laurel, own and operate J & L Catering. They will cater any event, from small intimate dinners, to large family functions, including weddings (and anything wedding-related), corporate outings, graduation & holiday parties, BBQ's, clambakes and brunch.

I've had the honor of working with John & Laurel on both a professional and personal level. I recommend them to all of my clients and when I'm planning an event for myself they're one of the first calls I make. John, Laurel, and their staff will go above and beyond to fulfill every aspect of your party. While they do have sample menus featured on their website, they pride themselves on developing personalized menus for each client - based on their needs, tastes and budget. Some ideas for your event may include an elegant plated meal, a clambake or BBQ, a brunch or perhaps a more casual route with sandwich platters or trays of lasagna which are now available for pick up in their new cafe. In addition, they also offer a complimentary tasting once you begin the menu planning process.

Chef John Boardman has over 20 years of culinary experience. After he earned his formal culinary degree, John worked for upscale restaurants including Legal Seafoods, Inc., where he was a founding chef of their multi-million dollar catering division. John has also had the honor of cooking under the direction of some of the greatest chefs of the world, including Julia Child and Jasper White.

Over the years, John has catered events for thousands of happy clients, including Harvard University and Former President Bill Clinton. Guests have enjoyed the unique flavors and attention to detail for which he prides himself. John's creativity, talent and passion for food, combined with his drive to satisfy his clients, will shine through in any social event.

Spotlight on ~J & L Catering~

This is another vendor I can personally vouch for. John catered my parent's anniversary party in December and everyone raved about him. He did an amazing job.  John is very professional and his food is absolutely fabulous. Aside from being delicious, the presentation itself is beautiful.  I highly recommend John for any event, whether it's an intimate dinner party or a lavish affair. He truly is remarkable. Now that I told you what I think about him, let me tell you more about his business and his background.

Chef John Boardman, along with his wife, Laurel, own and operate J & L Catering. They will cater any event, including weddings (and anything wedding- related), graduation and holiday parties, BBQs, clambakes and brunch. Most of their business is in Massachusetts, but they are absolutely willing to travel.

Chef John Boardman has over 20 years experience in the food industry, including starting Legal Sea Foods' catering division, working in various upscale restaurants and catering on his own. He has catered for Former President Bill Clinton and worked with Jasper White and Julia Child both in restaurants and at events such as a Taste of Rhode Island.

On their website, you will see a small sample of menu items, however, they pride themselves on developing personalized menus for each client--based on their needs, tastes and budget. Unlike many caterers, once they develop a proposal for a client, they offer a complimentary tasting not only so can they meet but also so the client can know the high quality of food they're going to receive on the day of their event.

Party was a Success!

My parents 40th anniversary party was this past Saturday and it went fabulously! Everything was how I hoped it would be. It even snowed which worked into my plan perfectly and that just made me so happy.

J & L Catering did a great job. The food was delicious, the presentation was beautiful and they were very professional. My baked cod was delightful and everyone with the prime rib was equally happy. Even the kids' meals were fabulous, I couldn't help but nibble on what my son didn't finish. I will definitely use them again, and I highly recommend them to anyone looking for a caterer.

The room turned out so gorgeous. Everyone just loved the table and the fireplace and all the little details I put into it. Here's one picture from that night, I put the rest on my website already. You can find them under the Theme Party gallery, at the beginning.

My parents had such a great time at their party and ultimately that was what I wanted. They loved all the little touches, the collage of pictures that was made, poinsettias which mom and her bridesmaids carried, but most of all they loved the company. Happy 40th Anniversary Mom & Dad! You're an inspiration and I love you.
